Talking Why Did Polymock Never Make It To PVP?

Hello there ladies and gents. :- )

Yesterday I ran through the polymock quests and after I stopped dying...ahem, I realised what a fun game it was. I beat the quests got my commons, uncommon pieces and eventually my gold piece so I could re-challenge any polymock npc. The only problem is that I could basically just smash them in with my current pieces even the polymock master really wasn't a challenge.

So then I checked wiki to see how many polymock pieces were in the game and wow there is alot of them so many to be honest its a wonder why this great little mini-game never got to PVP. I mean with all these pieces floating around they are just for show and you really don't need them for PvE fights even though it would likely make the fights easier.

Anyway I think this game could be a really great addition to PvP, in my opinion its a neat little sidetrack and I think has the potential of the dragon arena or what not. While you would be right in saying polymock isn't really PvP its pretty damn fun regardless. It brings 1v1s without grossly unfair fights, it also would possibly bring alot of use to the pieces which are unobtainable through quests (get them through faction or something) and it would be fun to pit your pieces against other people.

Well anyway thats about the jist of it, thanks for taking the time to read. :- )

Perhaps Anet is considering an entire Polymock game all by itself.

There are a lot of empty space in the Isles. And doors closd in the Great Temple.

Anything could be there... all year minigames, for instance.

Polymock is a PVE game, its part of PVE quests. Besides, let it in the hands of PVP and they will find a way to ruin it.

I think PVP Polymock would be great. They wouldn't even need to nerf it, since the skills are set with the pieces you choose, and if they did adapt it for PVP, make the PVP'ers get the pieces the same way PVE'ers had too And don't drop some $30 box with all the polymock pieces in it, that would indeed ruin it.

Well i mean it would be kind of unfair to force pvp only players to take up pve just to get some polymock pieces.

I think that for pvp players to get polymock pieces they could make it so pieces could be bought with faction. Since pieces are not vastly superior compared to one another(mainly stronger pieces come in terms of greater health and energy) being able to purchase pieces with faction would not be an advantage. Its simply making different skins for pieces available. To ensure the rarity of pieces some gold lvl pieces could be set so they could only be achieved in pve but these pieces would not have a vastly superior edge in combat, they'd simply be rare with a unique skin.

it's kind of unfair that Anet made HoH-exclusive weapons (crystallines, etc.)

if they could be bought with faction that would ruin the prices for gold ones.

I really do hope they add something more to Polymock. Currently, there is no reason to collect new pieces from dungeons other than collecting's sake. It doesn't even need to be PvP, just some kind of tournament that gives a good amount of Asura faction, or even have it count towards the Gamer title. Having something year round for it would be nice to have, and you are playing a mini-game afterall for it.

Anet didnt have the time to even make new armors graphics or have all unique dungeon maps. (they reused many of the maps) I highly doubt they would have put the time in to give polymock more depth on release if they couldnt even do the same for the actual game. Maybe it will come down the road. Who knows? The way this company has been working ever since Factions came out it's impossible to guess ;x

I'd have to assume they're adding a pvp option at some point. Else, what exactly is the point of it in the first place? Played through the quest series once, which took all of an hour or so. There's really no reason to go back.

I recall ANET saying that they had a majority working GW2 while a small number were going to add updates to GW1 to keep us hooked. I'm sure they can add a PvP to Polymock some day.

yes because there has NEVER been any form of bitching from the PvE community about the things the PvP players got because they didnt want to PvP...

Answer = time. A.net probablly wanted to included PvP polymock, but didn't have time to program it.

And really, all this PvP vs PvE flaming here is worthless. Lets be honest, PvPers aren't going to care about polymock AT ALL. Its not GvG/HA. It will either be another AB filled with casual players, or another group of grind crazy finatics going after a title (gamer presumably) like Hero Battles (commander). So long as it doesn't award an unfair amount of Faction the PvPers won't care (the reward should be minimal since its not "real" PvP and they should maybe just give gamer points).

Whoa, and PvE players never complain at all. Oh wait, I look at threads like wanting 7 heroes for Hard Mode because its actually HARD and who would have thought that now I look at this board and see about so much bitching about GW:EN (drops, grinding for titles, armours, dungeons not rewarding enough, Hall of Monument) when the whole expansion never even released any content to PvP other than 10 new skills for each class. They isn't any new maps for arenas or even new Guild Halls.

I was wondering about the same thing.

Polymock would make a great PVP game. Particularly if it allow you to change pieces during a battle.
